The Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland accompanied by Senior Ministers and the members of the National Fire Committee for the victims of Waaheen Market met with a large delegation from UN agencies.

Hargeisa-06-04-2022 - The Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland, Hon. Abdirahman Ismail (Sylici) held meeting with a large delegation from European Union Countries supporting Somaliland and some UN agencies.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Issa Kayd Mohamud first welcomed the delegation, thanking them for their support to Somaliland since the catastrophic fire that destroyed one of the largest markets in the Horn of Africa, Waheen, which the cost  of the damage  estimated at $ 1.5 to $ 2 billion.

Representatives from European Union Countries and UN Agencies  that support Somaliland's development, shared with the nation messages of condolence from their respective leaders, and expressed their sorrow over the catastrophic fire that destroyed the Waheen market with its vast Business Units and damaged a large amount of property, announcing that emergency Appeal  meetings would be held this week.

The Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland, reported the extent of the damage caused by the fire.

Finally, members of Somaliland's development partners pledged to provide full information on the scale of the fire to their respective leaders and institutions on the scale and impact of the Disaster.
